In Her Presence was honored last week at the Change AGEnt Summit, hosted by the Maine Council on Aging, for its leadership in supporting older immigrant Mainers.
The annual Change AGEnt Summit brings together advocates, providers, and community leaders from across Maine to share strategies for building an age-positive culture and advancing equity for older adults. Each year, the Council highlights individuals and organizations that are breaking new ground in helping older Mainers thrive.
In Her Presence is one of the only organizations in Maine specifically serving older immigrant adults. Many in this population face unique barriers of language, isolation, and access to culturally responsive care. Through our programs, we help older community members stay connected, navigate complex systems, and continue to share their skills and wisdom within Maine’s communities.
We are honored by this recognition and grateful to the Maine Council on Aging for spotlighting the contributions and needs of immigrant seniors as part of Maine’s broader aging conversation.
